Travel details (Air and Road)
Travel by Air – You can travel by Air by taking a direct flight (PIA) from Islamabad to Gilgit city or Skardu and then travel onwards by Road through picturesque valleys to reach Passu.(Flights are heavily booked so please check with your travel agent well in advance).
Travel by Road – two major routes leading to Hunza after reaching Islamabad. Please check with authorities regarding Babusar top road conditions for travel)
ROUTE 1 (15 hours/730KM) Islamabad to Thakot M15 motorway (3:30 hours/240KM). Thakot to Chilas N95 (6:00 hours/230KM). Chilas to Attabad lake (5:00 hours/240KM). Attabad lake to Gulmit (15min/10kKM). Gulmit to Passu (20mins/13KM). Passu to Morkhun (30 min/30KM)
ROUTE 2 (15 hours/650KM): Islamabad to New Balakot M15 (2:30/175KM). New Balakot to Naran N15 (4 hours/106KM). Naran to Babusar top (2 hours/66KM). Babusar to Chilas (1:30 hours/50 KM). Chilas to Attabad lake (5:00 hours/240KM). Attabad lake to Gulmit (15min/10kKM). Gulmit to Passu (20mins/13KM). Passu to Morkhun (30 min/30KM)
Local Transport
There are a number of local transport companies that provide different vehicles, ranging from small vehicles to Hiace vans. Rental prices range between Rs. 4,000 to Rs. 9,000 (approx: $18 to $40) without fuel cost per day.
