Travel

  1. Confirm your air tickets timely.
  2. Get your vehicle thoroughly checked before traveling to northern areas.

  4. Get first-hand information about road conditions from the below-mentioned contacts.
  5. Keep your national ID card/ passport along with you or a picture on your smartphone.
  6. Don’t bring young kids in case you plan to go trekking/camping.
  7. Avoid taking infants and toddlers to Northern areas during cold temperatures.
  8. Use LPG or kerosene for cooking and avoid using firewood. Make proper arrangements to prevent environmental damage.
  9. Wear proper warm clothing, windbreakers, thermals, etc. to keep yourself warm.
  10. Take bottled water while traveling and check with locals if you are drinking from running streams.

 

Driving Tips

  1. Avoid excessive breaks (vehicle) while driving at Babusar, Deosai and Khunjerab as it may cause brake failure.
  2. Using heavy gears minimizes risk and ensures safety. While driving downhill, use lower gear (1 or 2). In the case of vehicles with automatic gears, use the downhill function.
  3. If you are stuck in the snow, please switch off your vehicle as carbon monoxide from car exhaust can enter inside through the vehicle’s ventilation system and cause life damage.
  4. In case of an emergency or any issues immediately contact the provided helplines.
  5. Always fill up your gas tanks if the fuel gauge indicates less than half.

  1. Support the community by purchasing local handicrafts.
  2. Engage local guides for trekking/camping.
  3. Respect local culture, traditions, people and religious places.
  4. Do not play loud music that will disturb others.
  5. Do not disturb local people and take pictures of locals after getting their permission.
  6. Do not enter houses / private property without permission during village walks.
  7. Do not harm the environment, flora and fauna.
  8. Do not damage trees on your fruit picking tours.
  9. Dispose of your litter properly and keep the tourist destination/campsite clean.
  10. Do not write on any walls or stones. Wall chalking is prohibited.
  11. Cooperate with GB Tourist Police.
